Any Asshole with a Guitar and a Camera by jason

OK. I’ve been largely without an interconnection for over 24 hours. Right around the time we here at the To Eleven Institute were about to beat each other with clubs made from bone in order to determine who would lead the tribe, the cable guy came out to restore the internet, and civilization won out over savagery. This time.

Anyway, that’s why this edition of Any Asshole is late and short. Let’s get to it.

First up, Youtube user LilAnnieC does a sweet, heartwarming rendition of Cee-Lo Green’s “Fuck You.” I really like what she’s done with this. She’s managed to soften it without it sounding ironic. And even though she uses all sorts of fancy-schmancy editing, I don’t think it hurts the simplicity of this cover.

This next one, by Juliana Richer Daily, I’ll admit that I chose because I thought she was purdy. Whatever. It’s a great cover, anyway, and I can tell from cyberstalking listening to her other songs that she’s a very talented musician. Check out her covers, as well as her original work.

And finally, here’s Coffey Anderson covering Colbie Caillat’s “Realize.” He does a good job with this, considering it’s originally sung by a female singer. He makes it his own just by that virtue alone. Also, he has good banter at the beginning. “Cold as ice, Charlie Murphy” indeed.

Come back next week for a holiday edition of Any Asshole! Hopefully, I’ll get that one in on time!
