I’ve been a big fan of Neil Milton’s work without being aware of it. Mr. Milton is in fact, also beneath us, the waves whose music we’ve featured previously. Now residing in Poland, he is relaunching his label Too Many Fireworks with solo project elements as its first release.

elements consists of 5 piano and string compositions based on the classical elements. I have always really liked the piano and strings, so this album starts on excellent ground for me. What stands out here, is this is actually minimal, ambient piano.  Maintaining the emotional resonance of classical composition, while being played in a manner that creates the type of soundscape most readily associated with ambient electronic or electroacoustic. Other compositions are more traditional, but remain no less engaging. elements is an immensely enjoyable listen. This is beautiful stuff, moving even. High recommended, especially for fans of Rachel’s.
