Any Asshole with a Guitar and a Camera-Covers of Covers edition by jason

Everyone loves a good cover song. This is a scientifically verifiable fact; I checked it with J.A.Y.N.O.V.A., the To Eleven Institute of Sonic Research’s supercomputer, and it all checks out. What’s better is that sometimes, a cover becomes so well loved that Assholes record covers of these covers. Try to keep up…

Jason Smith and James Mitchell are two such Assholes. They are covering “Crazy,” but not Gnarls Barkley’s version; they went right for the Ray LaMontagne version, which, really, is probably better for an acoustic guitar cover anyway. Anywho, they do a good job of it.

YouTube user Eddie629 does a pretty accurate, mostly acoustic cover of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band’s “Blinded by the Light,” which was, of course, the cover of a Bruce Springsteen song. Eddie plays the keyboard part on his guitar, and that pretty much sold me on it.

Iron & Wine did a beautiful cover of The Flaming Lips’ “Waitin’ for a Superman.” YouTube user tosaytheleast covers that cover, only a few tones higher. Sounds good, yo!

And finally, here’s billabongbranny covering Sinead O’Connor’s cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” I’ve always liked this song.

And that’s it for our Assholes! Come back next week for more Assholes!
