to eleven

New Releases by jason

Looks like all the good stuff came out last week. This week, My wallet would like to thank the recording industry.

The Hundred in the Hands-Self-Titled. Warp Records, 2010.

I’ve only heard a few samples from this one, but this is like the third thing that’s come out this year by these guys. Sounds promising…kind of airy, kind of cold, kind of distant. I like that sort of thing.

Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s-Buzzard. +1 Records, 2010.

Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s is one of those bands that I really wanted to start listening to, but then the static of everything else going on in music distracted me. Maybe I’ll give this one a listen.

Maroon 5-Hands All Over. A&M, 2010.

These guys are still recording? Why?

Serj Tankian-Imperfect Harmonies. Reprise, 2010.

Serj Tankian’s new album is a political, environmental, and religious diatribe against the ills of humanity. Actually, I don’t know that; I’m just guessing. CoughONETRICKPONYcoughcough!

Twiztid-Heartbroken & Homicidal. Psychopathic Records, 2010.

Another Juggalo album. Seriously, there’s one every week. So, I guess you can say what you want about them, but I have to commend their devotion to whatever the fuck it is they are doing.

Observations:

Well, as of today, Amie Street is dead. This might have something to do with the mood I’m in.

Two Fugazi albums were rereleased on vinyl today. I’m sure this has everything to do with art and nothing to do with commerce.

One of my guilty pleasures is My Chemical Romance. As a sort of fan of their stuff, and as a comic book fan, this clip promoting MCR’s new album is interesting because the bald guy in it is comic writer Grant Morrison. So there you are.
